Getting a Fletcher: the Fletching Table
The fletching table is two flint on top of four planks. It's otherwise useless (you can't craft arrows on it), so its main job is giving villagers the fletcher profession. Fletchers are common in plains and savanna villages.
How to reroll and lock Fletcher trades
Fletchers have a simple novice pool — sticks for emeralds and arrows for sale — so rerolling is rarely needed before level 2. Lock the villager by selling 32 sticks, then level it up; the useful crossbow and tipped arrow trades only appear at higher tiers.
Best Fletcher trades by level
- Novice — 32 sticks for 1 emerald — Two planks make four sticks, so one log becomes 16 sticks. A tree farm or bamboo farm makes this effectively free money.
- Apprentice — 26 flint for 1 emerald — Gravel from a sand/gravel source sieve or a duped supply turns into flint quickly with a Fortune III shovel.
- Expert — enchanted crossbow (3–4 emeralds) — A cheap crossbow to break and reuse, or an enchanted backup for raids.
- Master — 5 tipped arrows for 2 emeralds + 5 arrows — The only renewable way to buy tipped arrows without brewing lingering potions.
Fletcher emerald farm idea
Build a bamboo farm with observers and pistons: two bamboo crafts into one stick, and bamboo grows faster than any tree. Feed the sticks to a group of fletchers and you get one of the fastest early emerald farms in the game.
Java vs Bedrock Fletcher trades
On Bedrock, fletchers buy tripwire hooks and sell more tipped arrow types, and each tier usually lists all its offers at once. Java fletchers pick two random trades per level from the pool, so two Java fletchers in the same village can look quite different.
Fletcher trading tips
Fletchers are the classic beginner emerald villager because their Novice trade buys 32 sticks for 1 emerald, and 32 sticks are only 16 planks — four logs. One tree farm or a few minutes with an axe turns into a stack of emeralds. Their gravel-to-flint trade also matters: ten gravel plus an emerald gives ten flint, which is faster than sifting gravel by hand if you need flint and steel or arrows. At Master the fletcher sells tipped arrows, which you can't craft without lingering potions, so a fletcher is the cheapest way to stock Slowness or Poison arrows for a raid or a Wither fight.
